Announcement

New effort certification program coming!

As we announced last week in our initial communication, the Huron Employee Compensation and Compliance (ECC) program replacing our current Banner Effort Certification process will go-live Monday, March 30.

We’ve launched a new webpage that has the latest updates, including training schedule, for ECC and additional updates for each module as the information becomes available.

Training sessions are scheduled every week this month for “pre-reviewers” and “certifiers”. For a full list of training and Zoom links, visit the website

Certifications will now be handled by the fund (i.e., project index) instead of by employee. No matter how many employees are on the fund, only one certification is required for both exempt and non-exempt employees.

To simplify the ECC transition, Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 periods will be done in two 6-month segments:

  • March 30 begins the certification period for July-December 2025.
  • January-June 2026 will begin pre-review on July 22, 2026.
  • Beginning in FY27, we will transition to a pre-planned quarterly schedule.

Pre-review will begin the 15th of the month following the fiscal quarter with certifications due 60 days after the start date.

Effort Coordinators (generally department administrators) will begin the process by pre-reviewing records as is done in our current Banner system. As soon as they have completed their review, the PI will receive an email letting them know they can review and certify effort on the fund. There will be 60 days from when pre-review begins to the due date of all certifications.

Foreign Entity Reporting:

Policy 2190, the new Foreign Gifts and Contracts policy, is now published.  UNM is required by law to report any gifts and contracts from foreign entities.  Here are links to submit information or to learn more about the requirements.

If you have specific questions, you can email indexcga@unm.edu.  Please state “Foreign Entity Reporting Question” in the subject line.

Effort Certification:

The Effort Certification process does not work through the normal Employee Dashboard link.  Please use the following link to pre-certify and certify your records: https://lobowebapp.unm.edu/EmployeeSelfServiceAdmin/.  Thank you!

Building Access Control Update:

In order to support a safe and secure campus environment for our Lobo community, UNM’s John and June Perovich Business Center located at Lomas and University has building access control for both the main building and the HR Service Center. All UNM students, faculty, staff, retirees, and affiliates who have a UNM Lobo ID card with proximity privileges will use their UNM Lobo ID card to gain access to the building during normal business hours. Those who do not have a UNM Lobo ID with proximity privileges will still be able to gain access to the building by using the air phone located outside the building.

RAN

RAN, Research Administrators Network, meets monthly via Zoom on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:00 am. There are also notifications of importance to research administrators that are emailed from the list serve.
